Top 10 tips to becoming a real Marketing Genius

1.  What Types of Marketers are there?

Promotion of your own product:

In my opinion this is the ultimate goal to work towards. This way you are in control of how much the product sells for, you get 100% of the profits, you build up your own email list and you can have your own affiliates working for you! This is definitely the way to win the money game, but I would suggest you practice first at being an affiliate marketer to gain experience, before you start making your own products.

The advantage here is that you have a ready made product, you don't have to waste time and effort coming up with the idea, you just do your stuff and pull in the commissions.

You buy an existing Web Business:

This always a good option as you are investing in an already successful website, with an existing email list and traffic. Perhaps I am just glutton for punishment but I think this would take all the fun out of doing it yourself. Also when you are first starting out you don't necessarily have the funds for such a venture. However if you are interested please visit http://www.viperbusiness.com/ for free viper inside information.

2.   How to choose your market?

It is essential that you know your market is actually searching for you! It is no good promoting any old product. If you are not sure what to promote, I suggest you sign up to Clickbank, a free to join, digital products retailer. Here you can search for products to promote with up to 75% commission,  or add your own products for others to promote. You will be given a Clickbank ID which you must remember, as this is what you will add to the URL links to the products you promote, so that you receive your commissions. Another similar website worth visiting is Master-Resell-Rights.

So you have searched the databases and come up with some ideas of what you are interested in promoting. Now before you actually take the plunge into the marketing vortex. It is highly recommended that you test the market you have chosen. In order to do this you can search for the key words people type into search engines, when looking for similar products or services. This step is one of the most important, your product first needs to be in demand and secondly it needs a name people will be searching for. Once you have tested a few different words and phrases, the words that rate the highest would be very useful as part of your domain name and written several times within your sales page. You can do a free search at either GoogleAdwords or Wordtracker (which offers a free trial and displays the key words used by competing websites).

If you are promoting other peoples products you need to choose a niche that you are interested in and prepared to research/purchase their products in order to test them and promote them yourself. If you are not interested in the market you are choosing it will shout a huge 'X' Sign to the buyer saying 'You are just after a quick buck', which you may well be, but hey you want a great reputation,Yes? You hate being ripped off yourself, right?. So start as you mean to go on!

This does not mean you can't promote different niches, but start with one and learn all you can to promote the best products out there. This is not only going to educate your but it will mean you build up a strong reputation for when you promote your own products in relation to the niche.

3.   Brainstorm into action:

Remember at school when we used spider graphs to help us research a project or revise for an exam, nowadays they are called mind maps. In the middle of the page we wrote our goal or subject, drew a circle round it and then drew a spider leg from the circle outwards, one for each new idea, writing the new idea at the end of each leg, circling each new idea. Then did the same with the new idea drawing more legs and so on.  Well it is still the best way to brainstorm your ideas get them down on paper so it starts to look real and achievable.

With your market in mind, think of all he different areas people would be interested in write them all down, the ideas you come up with will be great for domain names, key word searches and products searches.

4.    Sales Map:

Now you have some great ideas on the table and it is time to put them together as a workable plan. A simple version of your plan will look as follows:

Traffic (leads to) Email List (leads to) First Sale (leads to) More Sales (leads to) Continuity Programs (leads to) 1 to 1 coaching (leads to) Franchising etc

1.  Sales Letter - the big idea, using your story, your unique selling proposition (why should they buy from you?)

2.  Product Offer -  components of product and price.

3.  Bonuses -  these are extremely powerful if used properly, you need to make the offer 'outrageous', it needs to be so much value for money that it is irresistible. You must create a build up, by selling your bonuses as well and telling them how much they are worth. Look at your product, if you have say an e-book which is either your own, or one who have purchased with private label rights, see if  you can pull out the parts of the e-book which people really want and offer these as bonuses!

With the bonuses you need to sell them, so be as specific about their content as you would the product they are purchasing. , push forward the features and then the benefits for each one.  Tell them what is in it for them. Give them testimonials from others that have used the bonuses, give your personal story etc.

4.  Opt-in offer -  this is an essential area, you need to build your list up, to do that you need them to give you their name email address. It has to be done in a way that they are giving you permission to contact them in the future. Once you have them on your list you keep them and keep making money from them in the future. There are two ways, one is a squeeze page which appears when they visit your web page. You offer them a free product to download or a mini course. In order for them to receive this free offer, they need to give you their email address. The other way is to direct them straight to your front page and have an offer at the top for them to sign up for.

Within the opt-in offer you will be telling them about the product you want them to buy. Tell them how one of the bonuses will help them be 99% ahead of other entrepreneurs (or what ever your field is), and they won't have to even pay for it! You see this bonus will be the essential part you have pulled out of your original product. By putting it as a bonus you are shining a light on it, you could have just left it in and it  wouldn't have been such an extra free gift! Good or good?

Tell them they can start using it that very day. The bonus will solve 99% of their problem.

1.  7 free ways to teach you ...... and it only takes 15 minutes.

2.  Work will be done for them, the information will do most of the work, in other words they won't have to keep searching for solutions, all they need to know is in the product.

3.   Don't give too much away, make them feel you have the solution to your problem, but you don't tell them exactly what that is, only how it wil benefit them.

4.   Give them the title of the bonus, bullet point the benefits (how it will help them).

5.   Give them reports from people who benefited from your product, if you can get a full name, telephone number and email address, the chances the person will never be contacted as it is a given that they trust you to share the details with you. Also if you ask for their testimony and contact details, let them know they can put in their website so it is free advertising for them. The best testimonials are recorded ones, even better if you can get a video testimony, I will be writing more about this in my next blog post. I have come across some thing very cool and the way forward for the internet marketing world. So watch this space!

6.   Email is a 1 - 1 communication, I would suggest you start sending an email to the person before they have purchased anything. Tell them something valuable and worth while for free. In fact the more outrageous the free offer or email information is the better the chance is to build a trusted relationship with them. Make sure you sign your name and scan it in, put it at the end of all your emails.

5.   Reaching your potential buyers:

Are you able to reach the buyers?

The main ways of driving traffic to your website is through PPC (pay, per click, this is where you pay for every time someone clicks on your website link, but it can get quite pricey, but worth a look at, do not fear I have an underground secret way to overcome this so make sure you keep reading my blog), E-zine articles (you write free articles about your niche, you must not sell anything, but you can put your contact details at the bottom for further information), continue to contact your email list, with free information and within that you can up-sell to a new product etc, using affiliates to promote your products is also a way to drive more traffic to your website, they get a commission and you get them on your list.

7.   Website / Sales System

This is where you need a system to run your sales page, you need the following:
  • Order System
  • 3 lists - free email, customer email, affiliate email
  • 4 pages - Opt-in form page (you need to drive traffic to this form), Sales Letter page, Order Form page, Download page, Affiliate Programme Page

 8.  Revise Sales Letter

1.  Leave a week from initially writing it, go back and edit it with a clearer fresh mind.

2.  Split testing - let the market place tell you what they want, try different ways of attracting customers, use a control letter, then a letter with on change, then test this against another letter with one change.

3.  Different Headlines - try out different styles of headline and record which one brings in the most sales.

4.  Google Adwords- visit Google ad words free keyword search tool, you can put in words relate to your product and see how many people search for these words or similar words, it is essential you use these words in the title an if possible in your domain name.

5.  Search engines - once you have gone life make sure that the websites look the same in both google and firefox.

9.    Big 3 of Traffic
  • Pay per Click (PPC)
  • Search Engines (SEO)
  • Affiliates - Pay other sites commissions to sell your product e.g they get 50% with free re-sell rights and  distributions
  • Do one of these at a time - Find the best people, sell to them, get them to take action, you need to create small floods of people buying and becoming your affiliate in order to build up a viral spread of your product, go to forums of people who you think would be good to promote your stuff, put great content on their sites first for free
10. Back End Profits

Once you have your customer you can then leverage their custom by offering what are called back end profits, the following are some examples:
  • Monthly Products
  • Tele - Conference
  • Home Study course
  • Seminars
  • Workshops
  • Membership sites
  • Coaching
  • Consulting
Ok, that's all for now, I hope you have learnt something valuable and you have made some important decisions to take you forward to the next level. I will be expanding on some areas in this article soon, in the mean time, go for gold and get yourself up and running.

Good luck,
To your Millionaire Mind Business Success!
